Kindness of the farm people

October 1916

Stationed with R.A. HQ at St Quentin Chateau, one kilo from Aire (-sur-la-Lys?) and spent a very pleasant 15 days. Comfortable billet in a stable and ran a fine mess thanks to the kindness of the farm people.

One or two trips into Aire. Very nice town.

Journeyed down to region of the Ancre, in motor lorries this time. Arrived at Bertrancourt (map), lived in tents here about a week.

Out every day with working parties, laying and burying cable in vicinity of Colincamps (map), nasty quarter this.

H.Q. shifted to BUS (Bus-les-Artois?).
