Week ending Saturday February 24 1917
Gradually shaking off bronchitis, but still feel rotten. Struggled through somehow.
Moved on Sunday 11th to Wanquetin (map), about 11 kilo. Cycled again. Felt very queer on arrival at W: Episode of the eggs. Attending hospital for two days, so missed going to office. Developed bronchitis and felt awful the whole week. Could hardly drag myself about the picket line.
Thaw set in towards end of week and glorious mud began.
Billeted in fresh air barn.
Still at Villers Chatel. Same routine on bleak frozen picket line.
Half of Company departed on Wednesday, leaving two sections, including self, behind.
Moved via Flors to Villers Chatel. Did journey on cycle, acting as road guides to the column. Quite enjoyed it.
Was able to spend a few hours in Frevent and Doullens.
Living in stone floored granary at Villers Chatel (map).
Frost still as severe as ever. Awful job with the horses on the glassy roads.
