Can’t shake off horrible depressing influence of going through village, or remains of same. Nothing in sight but cats.
Rumour strong of expected big attack on our front. Also water reported poisoned (Bollartbeek (a brook)).
Feel much relieved to get Laura’s letter.
Further French success near Arras.
H.M.S. Goliath torpedoed in Dardanelles. 1898 Battleship. Heavy loss of life.
